Setting up a new café or even updating the décor in your existing café can be a daunting prospect. After all, the choices you make today are likely to play a big part in the make or break of your business so it has to be right. Your furniture for example needs to reflect the look and feel you wish to achieve, and most importantly it needs to be done within your set budget. With this in mind, here are 4 top tips for choosing the right cafe furniture for your needs.
“Failing to plan is planning to fail” or so they say, so you really need to sit down and write an outline of the kind of feel and style you’re hoping to achieve. Think about suitable colour schemes, patterns, textures, and feature pieces. Think about finishes. Would you want a black finish on a table or chrome? Do you want all your chairs to be uniform or do you prefer to mix and match? Also think about what kind of dining experience you want your customers to have. Are you after quick turnaround quick service, or do you want them to make themselves comfortable and spend all afternoon in your establishment? Once you have a rough outline, then you should have a good idea of the type and style of furniture you need.
Another important aspect of course is styling. After all you’ll want all your chosen furniture to work cohesively to create one great overall look. How about red and black chairs for that 50’s retro theme, or why not opt for all white for the cool crisp minimalist look. For a natural/earthy theme, consider using rattan cane, ash/timber or chocolate coloured chairs. Or if you’re after a softer more feminine look then opt for cream, or ‘latte’ coloured chairs.
You’ll also need to consider the environment that your cafe furniture is going to be placed. If your establishment is completely indoors, you have the freedom to choose from any type of chair. However if your café or restaurant is partially or wholly outdoors, it’s a good idea to find out if the furniture you intend buying is weatherproof and water proof. In addition if your cafe is likely to be in an area that has a lot of passing trade you’ll want to make sure that your furniture will take the rigours of continual use.
Finally furniture type is something you really do need to consider. Are you going for a cosy, relaxing feel? If so why not opt for tub chairs and coffee tables. Alternatively chairs with armrests may be a good option, although some customers may feel restricted in movement, and so simpler chairs may be a better option.
